The Desert’s Ethical
Choice for
Cataract Surgery
Desert Vision Center has cared for Coachella Valley patients for nearly 40 years, and 98% of our growth comes from patient referrals. Led by Dr. Keith Tokuhara, a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist and local physician, our practice is built on transparency, personalized care, and recommendations based on what is best for each patient. Because when it comes to your vision, trust matters.
When It Comes to Your Vision,
Only the Best Will Do
Dr. Keith G. Tokuhara is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained retina specialist whose practice focuses on cataract surgery, complex anterior segment surgery, and challenging cases often referred for second opinions. His unique training allows him to evaluate not only the cataract itself, but also the retinal and ocular conditions that can influence surgical planning and visual outcomes.
Whether you are seeking your first cataract evaluation, a second opinion, or care for a complicated case, Dr. Tokuhara provides personalized recommendations tailored to your vision, lifestyle, and long-term eye health. Patients throughout the Coachella Valley trust Desert Vision Center for advanced surgical expertise, continuity of care, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is right for the patient.

For more than a decade, Dr. Keith Tokuhara has practiced in the Coachella Valley. Patients are cared for by the same surgeon throughout the process: from consultation and surgical planning through surgery and postoperative recovery. Dr. Tokuhara combines advanced cataract surgery technology with personalized surgical planning to care for both straightforward and highly complex cases.

What Our Cataract Surgery
Patients Say
Attention Patients
Dear Valued Patients of Desert Vision Center,
Dr. Tokuhara is a highly skilled cataract surgeon, specializing in advanced anterior segment surgeries, including complex glaucoma and cataract procedures. He focuses on patients who need surgical intervention or are at risk of severe vision loss.
While Dr. Tokuhara offers comprehensive eye care for his own surgical patients, he does not provide general eye care or post-operative care for patients of other surgeons. When you choose Dr. Tokuhara, he becomes your trusted eye doctor for life.
A Note About Ethical Care
In our community, some providers engage in illegal financial kickbacks, accepting payments for cataract surgery referrals. Desert Vision Center firmly rejects this unethical practice. We follow the highest ethical standards, complying with the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law, ensuring that your care is never influenced by financial incentives.
We believe referrals should always be based on what’s best for the patient not financial gain. If you’re being evaluated for cataract surgery, we encourage you to ask questions and be mindful of these referral arrangements.
Choose the surgeon who prioritizes your vision and your well-being not one chosen for someone else’s profit.
Sincerely,
Desert Vision Center
